Only one senior game beat the weather in the NCU, Instonians claiming the points with a close four wicket DLS win over CSNI at Stormont.

There was immediate success for Instonians who has asked the home side to bat first, as Ross Adair went without scoring in the second over, Ryan Hunter following in the third again without troubling the scorers.

Luke Georgeson with 50 held things together as he added 89 with Stuart Thompson. Thompson would go on to score 97 (9x4, 2x6), the last CSNI wicket to fall with the total on 221.

Ben Rose, not for the first time this season the most successful Instonian bowler, his three wickets costing 49 runs, while there were two wickets each for Cade Carmichael and James Magee.

A rain interruption reduced the Instonian reply to forty overs with a DLS target of 186 for the victory. Ollie Metcalfe started brightly as ever, but it took an unbeaten 77 from Shane Getkate to get Instonians across the line with four balls and four wickets to spare.

Instonians move to 16 points and join the ‘3-Cs’ in mid table.

A herculean effort by the Bangor ground staff ensured that conditions were near perfect for the Intermediate Cup Final clash between Woodvale II and CIYMS III.
