A record breaking century by Georgina Dempsey was the highlight of a dramatic night in the Leinster Women's Senior One matches.

Dempsey's score of 139 is a Leinster Women's T20 record, and her brilliant effort helped Phoenix to 222 for 1 against second placed Pembroke.

She hit 14 fours and cleared the ropes five times in her 68 ball innings, sharing stands of 106 in 56 balls with Ella Pasley (29) for the first, and an unbroken 116 in 64 balls with Lara Maritz (33*) for the second.

Pembroke made a brave fist of the reply with half centuries from Mary Waldron (53) and Louise Little, with the latter's coming from only 28 balls (5 fours, 3 sixes), but they finished 36 runs adrift.

Dempsey completed a superb all-round night as she took four wickets, while Aussie speedster Ashlee King took 2 for 18.

Leinster moved a step closer to the title as they beat YMCA in a low scoring match at Rathmines.

Extras was top scorer in both innings with YMCA skittled for 41 by the Irish international triumvirate of Laura Delany (3-3), Eimear Richardson (3-15) and Ava Canning (2-10).

Leinster opted to rejig their batting order and it almost back-fired as they lost seven wickets chasing their modest target, with two wickets apiece for Emma McEvoy and Alice Tector.

There was a thriller at Milverton where The Hills beat Clontarf by one wicket.

Batting first, Clontarf posted 129 for 3 with runs for Alice Walsh (35), Aoife Brennan (34) and Anna Kirk (25).

The Hills' chase looked a forlorn one as wickets for Cara Murray (3-22), Anna Marshall (2-15) and Freya Sergeant (2-12) reduced them to 76 for 9 in the 16th over.

However, a remarkable last wicket stand between Tess Maritz (39*) and 14 year-old Aimee Maguire (11*) saw them get the runs required, despite needing 20 off the last over and 17 from four balls.

Merrion won the final match, beating Malahide by 21 runs.

Irish internationals Leah Paul (63) and Rebecca Stokell (50) shared a second wicket stand of 116 in 12 overs as Merrion made 142 for 7 - three wickets for Anna Kerrison (3-30).

Kerrison was also in the runs, hitting 50 from 46 balls (4 fours) but Malahide ended on 121 for 6.

There were two wickets for Celeste Raack - left out of Ireland's T20 World Cup Qualifier squad - and Julianne Morrissey.
