Waringstown in pole position for title

In the NCU, Waringstown are in pole position to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2017 after their win over second-place North Down last Sunday.
They will expect to be four points closer by tomorrow night with a home victory over Lisburn who not only are bottom of the table but their Seconds are in the Junior Cup final tomorrow so they will ensure that team is the strongest possible, especially as there is no relegation from the Premier League.
Two teams, however, will be promoted from Section One and four points separate the top three with four games remaining.
All three play twice this weekend with surprise leaders Cliftonville Academy first into action and hoping today’s forecast is wrong so they can play Donaghcloney Mill in their rearranged 20-over second and final attempt.
Long-time leaders Derriaghy have lost their last two and have away games against Muckamore and Saintfield — 20 overs on Sunday — while Cregagh host Saintfield and basement side Bangor.
