A fine batsman with Ardmore, Dermot went on to officiate, showing a real aptitude for the umpiring craft.

He was appointed to the ICC Europe panel standing in tournaments across the region before cutbacks.

His career in the middle was cut short by hip and knee operations but he still kept involved as a match referee and scorer not only at club level but also for Cricket Ireland at all levels.

He holds the position of Treasurer with the Umpires Association, while also being Chairman of Ardmore.

‘Big D’ is a real gentleman with a wealth of knowledge about all things cricket.

He is passionate about the Bleachgreen club and can be seen helping at all levels from the youth up to the senior ranks.

Dermot has been a real driving force behind the improvements carried out at Ardmore in recent years, both to the ground and the pavilion.

A real all-rounder, Dermot is one of those individuals that clubs just love to have, always keen to volunteer and help out, whatever the task.
