The North West Warriors are advertising for a Head Coach and Performance Pathway Manager.

It's a two year-deal which encompasses a full-time management role, having overall responsibility for the Warriors, performance programmes and youth squads.

With a relatively attractive salary in North-West terms it's hoped to attract quality candidates, although given the essential criteria it may not be as easy as it seems to get personnel to relocate to Derry.

Current Warriors Head Coach Ian McGregor has been in the role for over five years, getting the position on a permanent basis in February 2016 having been appointed on a temporary basis at the end of the previous summer.

He led the Warriors to the 2018 Interprovincial Championship, but results in the last two years have been disappointing.

McGregor can apply for the new role, but whether he intends to remains to be seen.

The Warriors are due to open their interpro campaign on May 6th with a home game against Munster Reds, before travelling to the Knights on May 18th. They then are scheduled to take on defending champions Leinster Lightning the following week on May 25th.

Whether they get the green light with Covid restrictions remains to be seen, but hopefully the Head Coach position will be ratified by then.
