Glendermott have appointed Jared Wilson as their Youth Cricket Development Coach on a part-time basis.

Wilson will have sole responsibility in setting up and running youth programmes and coaching at The Rectory.

He will also be working with local community centres and schools in an effort to boost interest and participation levels at the club..

"We felt now was the time to take a serious look at youth development as it had slowed up in recent years," said a Glendermott CC spokesperson.

"The club were of the opinion that appointing someone from outside of the club was the best option and Jared was very keen to come on board with the youth project.

"Our main aim is to help the club achieve a proper youth set up from Under 11 to 15, which is such a pivotal age group."

For Wilson, it's a chance to boost his impressive cricketing and coaching pedigree.

“With the whole emphasis about clubs investing into youth, this is a great opportunity for Glendermott Cricket Club and myself to embark on uplifting youth cricket in the area," he told CricketEurope.

“I think all clubs need to have a look on how they can make a difference in the local schools in their area.

"It will only do good for cricket in the North West region. So thank you to Glendermott for taking me on board, ahead of what will hopefully be the start of a successful time for the club.”
