William Porterfield has been named as the NW Warriors assistant coach, and will be supporting Gary Wilson in the 2021 campaign.
"I'm looking forward to getting stuck in at the Warriors," said Porterfield.
"Working with Wils on the planning and training, helping take a bit of the burden off his shoulders will be fantastic."
The former Irish skipper will continue to play, with the Warriors first match at Eglinton due to be played on May 6th against Munster Reds.
While the duo are lacking in coaching experience, there can't be many more duos with as much international playing nous, having accumulated 593 senior caps between them.
The Warriors also confirmed on Thursday that there will be a five-man selection committee comprising Wilson, skipper Andy McBrine, Bobby Rao, Marshall Kilgore and Mark Olphert.
Not that there will be much actual selecting for the quintet to do at senior interpro level, given that 12 of their players have been allocated by Cricket Ireland, leaving just four to be decided. Pity there wasn't five slots, as then they could have picked one each.
