Former Irish international Gordon Cooke is back at Coleraine, who will be without influential all-rounder Graham Hume following his close season switch to Waringstown.

Niall McDonnell isn't playing for the Bannsiders either following a short-live comeback.

The club have a number of talented young players with Paddy Carson, Matty Hutchinson and Matty Smyth all capable of big seasons to fill the void caused by Hume's absence.

Stephen Hutchinson will take the captain's armband and is optimistic about the forthcoming campaign.

Coleraine captain Stephen Hutchinson

"Varun Chopra will really benefit from being in the Warriors set-up, and this could be a huge campaign for the leg-spinning all-rounder.

"We have plenty of experience with David and Gordon Cooke as well as Gareth Burns.

"Soupy Campbell is still one of the best all-rounders in league, while Will Smale when he finishes his university year will be a real top wicketkeeper/batsmen."

Smale played last week for Derbyshire seconds, and his presence will certainly aid the Bannsiders.

They start their season with an away trip to Bonds Glen in the T20 Cup (2pm).
