Ben and James Rose helped Instonians to their first win of the season as they chased 127 to beat Woodvale by five wickets with nine balls to spare.

Off-spinner Ben took 2 for 19 as Woodvale were restricted to 127 for 7, with James Magee (2-26) also collecting a brace.

Ruhan Pretorius dominated the Ballygomartin side's innings, top scoring with a hard hit 56 from 44 balls, which saw him hit four boundaries as well as clearing the ropes three times.

His defiance was ended by Nathan Cole, who joined the Shaw's Bridge side from Donegal side St Johnston in the off season.

Opener Jordan McClurkin got the chase off to a good start with a fluent 26, while Irish international Shane Getkate's hard-hit 35 from just 24 balls (2 sixes, 2 fours) put them well ahead of the rate.

Pretorius claimed 2 for 11, his second wicket that of Andy White for 7, and at 106 for 5, there was a potential opening for Woodvale.

The door was firmly closed by the Rose brothers as Ben's 21 not out, able supported by James (5*) got them over the line to seal a deserved win that hopefully will get their season up and running.

Woodvale remain at the bottom of the table, still seeking that elusive first win.
