Gareth Harrison slammed an unbeaten 72 to help Saintfield beat Cliftonville Academy by six wickets as they chased 134 to win with eight balls to spare.

Harrison was at his belligerent best as he slammed five sixes and fours in his 50-ball innings, making light work of a potentially tricky chase.

He shared a third wicket stand of 64 in ten overs with Ryan Smyth, who offered excellent support with his 31.

Former Northern Knight Matty McCord (2-11) bowled superbly in the losing cause.

Earlier, Max Burton had slammed 7 fours and a six as he raced to 43 from 30 balls, as he and Johnny Terrett (27) laid a fine platform.

However 78 for 1 soon became 88 for 5, with Ethan Hanna (2-5) the stand-out bowler for the Saints.

Robbie Moffett, their close season signing from Carrick, steadied the innings with an unbeaten 26 which got them to what looked a competitive 134 for 5, but Harrison was the difference.

The win takes Saintfield to third in the table, behind Donacloney Mill and Derriaghy on NRR.
