SION MILLS OFF TO A FLYER
It’s been a great start to the season for Sion Mills who have recorded back-to-back convincing victories.
Their latest was a ten-wicket demolition of St Johnston, with Rian McKelvey and Simon Galloway in the runs.
The club are making real strides as they hope to push once again for inclusion in the senior ranks.
“We’ve put in a lot of hard work getting the ground in a fantastic condition and are continuing to renovate the pavilion with the aim of playing at the highest level in the not too distant future,” said Galloway.
“We have a few familiar faces back playing at the club after a number of years away and that experience they have gained takes us to a better level immediately namely Andrew Lucas, Barry Scott, Lee Finlay and Glenn McCallan.
“We are hoping to bring a few more ex-Sion cricketers back into the fold next year also to help us kick-on in the senior division. There’s a real air of optimism amongst the group currently and this is evident in our practice sessions as well as the first couple of matches which we have gained maximum points from.
“We will be aiming for silverware this year and the completion of the pavilion renovation to provide the platform to bigger things next year. After a long period in the doldrums there’s a real sense of togetherness and pride back at the club and long may it continue!”
