It was a special day for Fox Lodge opener Aidan Logue who scored 34 to help the Ballymagorry side to a 64-run win against Bonds Glen.

The teenager underwent heart surgery last Autumn, having missed the 2020 season.

“It was great to be back on the pitch with the boys and to get the win was the icing on the cake,” said Logue, son of former Irish Women’’s international Julie.

“I got the surgery two weeks after my 19th birthday. I had a heart condition called Wolf Parkinson White. I had an extra pathway in the heart that was causing palpitations and my resting heart rate could’ve been 200+ bpm, so they needed to burn the extra pathway away.”

“To be able to get back playing after surgery without having to worry about anything felt surreal. We have been working hard at training so hopefully we can kick on now from this win and have a great season.”
