There hasn't been much activity at Malahide over the close season, with the departure of Greg Ford to Balbriggan the only major move of note.
While Greg's move is a blow, the fact that Matt is staying put is a real boost to The Village club, who will once again be led by the affable Fintan McAllister (pictured).
They have a good blend of youth and experience and the emergence of David O'Halloran is a huge bonus - his new ball partnership with Peter Chase should keep opposition batters on their toes.
“The lads are all itching for the season to start," McAllister told CricketEurope.
"We have a good mix of youth and experience and most of the team has been playing senior cricket for many years so we’re really excited about the upcoming season.
“We have five players that are involved in the interprovincial setup either training with sides or playing so their games have really come on this year.
"Peter Chase and Davy O' Halloran will miss the first game due to international duty and we are all at the club very proud of the lads achievements. It’s been fantastic to see.
“The team has been together a while now so its very much a tight knit group. We have had a good couple of weeks training since the restrictions have been lifted and can’t wait to kick off Monday in the T20s.”
Malahide 's first match on Monday (June 7th) has them travelling to Park Avenue to face Railway Union.
