Ireland Under 19s held their nerve to beat Munster Heat by one run in a last ball thriller at The Mardyke in the latest match in the Emerging Interpro Series.

Needing 13 off the last over, Hassan Khan's six hit off the second legitimate ball followed by a single reduced the equation to four off three balls.

However Adam Hickey was run out attempting to give Khan back the strike, and he then couldn't score off the fifth.

Needing a boundary off the last, Diarmuid Burke restricted Khan to two, giving Ryan Eagleson and Pete Johnston's young charges a nail-biting win.

Phillipe Le Roux top scored with 39 in Ireland U19s 146 all out, with runs for Clontarf left-hander John McNally (27), Warriors' Nathan McGuire (19) and skipper Tim Tector (17).

There were three wickets apiece for Hassan Khan and Matthew Brewster.

Skipper Harvey Wootton cleared the ropes three times in his 38, while Brewster found the boundary four times in his 37.

Munster Heat seemed destined to win but their cause wasn't helped by three run outs in a frenetic finale, which saw them fall one tantalizing run short.
