Fox Lodge created a little bit of history as they beat Brigade by 16 runs at Beechgrove.

It was two former players who came back to inflict pain on their old clubs as Brian Allen scored a run-a-ball 79 (7 fours, 4 sixes) sharing a fifth wicket stand of 107 in 14 overs with Johnny ‘Bap’ Robinson who hit 8 fours and 2 sixes in his 57 not out as the Foxies made 202 for 7.

Three wickets apiece for Gareth Heywood (3-13) and Adam Walker (3-28) reduced Brigade to 132 for 9, but number 11 Simon Olphert top scored with 36 adding 54 for the last wicket with Ryan Macbeth (26no) before Robinson struck with his last ball to seal the win.

“Coming off the field we were chatting and said it has been a long time since we won at Brigade,” said skipper Aaron Heywood.

“In fact Adrian informed us that it was in fact the first time in the club’s history so that is something we can be really proud of.

“We fought back really well after a tough start with Ryan Macbeth and Ross Allen bowling superbly – two very under-rated cricketers. Brian Allen batted magnificently, really back to his best, while Johnny Robinson struck the ball clean and hard. It’s great to have him back at the club and he’s been superb for us.”

Fox Lodge are home to Eglinton on Saturday.
