Four wickets for Freya Sargent led Typhoons to a surprisingly easy eight-wickets win over defending champions Scorchers at Anglesea Road.

The Clontarf teenager, who played in the Under-19 World Cup earlier this year, claimed 4 for 14 to help restrict them to a very modest 80 for 9.

Lara Maritz top-scored with 26, while there were two wickets apiece for internationals Louise Little and Georgina Dempsey.

Rain meant a revised target of 67 in 16 overs which proved no trouble - Mary Waldron's 23 not out sealing a comprehensive win in the 12th over.
