There are six Ulster players in the Ireland Academy squad which begins their quest to lift the European T10 Championship trophy in Malaga today.

Having won Group C of the tournament 10 days ago, the 13-man squad have retuned to take on the other group winners, Spain, Germany – their first two opponents today - Jersey, Italy and an England XI plus defending champions Netherlands.

CIYMS duo Carson McCullough and Adam Kennedy are joined by Cliftonville Academy’s Jared Wilson, Liam Doherty of Eglinton and the Brigade pair Cameron Melly and Scott McBeth in a squad captained by Sam Harbinson.

Tim Tector was the leading run scorer in the group stage with young YMCA speedster Olly Riley the leading wicket-taker.

Meanwhile, 200 miles along the Spanish coast at Desert Springs, Ireland Women will be in action against Scotland in a five-match white-ball series over the next week.

The teams will play three ODIs, the first tomorrow, followed by two T20Is next Monday and Tuesday with Laura Delany leading an increasingly young squad following the retirements of Mary Waldron and Shauna Kavanagh.

Amy Hunter is now first choice wicket-keeper and Ulster team-mate Cara Murray is joined by Bready’s Alan Dalzell who has forced her way back into the international set-up for the first time in 16 months due to her performances in the Super Series for Dragons.
