A half century from Amy Hunter and a five-wicket haul by Cara Murray inspired the Dragons to a 21-run win over defending champions Typhoons in a rain-affected Super Series opener at Belmont.
Irish international Hunter hit six boundaries in a top score of 69, adding 45 for the 3rd wicket with fellow international Orla Prendergast as the Dragons posted 184 for 9 - Alana Dalzell making an unbeaten 19 too.
There were three wickets for Georgia Dempsey and Lara McBride, while Freya Sargent took two.
Dalzell (2-16) removed openers Ava Canning and Sarah Forbes, but a third wicket stand of 44 between Joanna Loughran (29) and Laura Delany (23) looked to be steering the Typhoons to a winning position.
The turning point was a stunning outfield catch by Prendergast to dismiss Irish captain Delany, the first of five wickets for leg-spinner Cara Murray (5-42).
Typhoons captain Rebecca Stokell ploughed a lonely furrow hitting 5 fours and the game's only maximum in her 60 from 51 balls, but chopped on from Arlene Kelly (2-21) as the Typhoons were bowled out for 163 in 37 overs.
