NASIR HAPPY WITH LIFE AT STRABANE
Another Tyrone side in the hunt for trophies this season are Strabane, who are fighting on no fewer than four fronts. They reached the Sammy Jeffrey final with a 9-wicket demolition of Bonds Glen on Sunday, while they have cup clashes with Coleraine in the Sperrin Springs T20 and Templepatrick coming up.
A major part of their success has been Pakistan overseas player Nasir Nawaz, who is enjoying life at the Park.
“I am very happy here at Strabane,” he told The Chronicle. “As you know you can't adjust immediately to any new place, it takes a while but it’s going well. I really enjoyed playing my first season here so I decided that I would like to play the next season here as well.”
Strabane are firing on all cylinders at the minute, and the captain is enjoying the atmosphere around the club.
“It honestly feels really great when you're winning, the team is winning and your own performances are good. So, it's really fun at the minute. I am very happy with my team, we are playing much better cricket this season. This season we have many goals and Inshallah, we will achieve all of them.
“The main achievement goal for any team or player is for the team to finish the season successfully. We have reached one cup final and are very close to reaching two more finals. Things are happening for us at the minute as well as cup success, I’d like for us to gain promotion this season.”
It’s not just local success that is close for Strabane, as they have a National Cup game against Templepatrick.
“We are very close to the final stages so it would be brilliant to get there. However, there are no easy games and we know that we have to continue to work hard in training and play hard in matches to ensure success.”
