KILLYCLOONEY STUN DONEMANA
There’s no doubting the shock of the season so far, as Killyclooney put a major dent in Donemana’s title ambitions, beating the league leaders by two runs in a thrilling derby.
“We were maybe preparing for defeat going by the two teams current form, but then again it's always a big occasion for us,” said skipper Timmy Dougherty.
“I think we all felt disappointed in how we batted and were dismissed for so little. At the halfway stage, the fire was there. Going in to tea after 10 overs with two big wickets down, we felt as if two or three quick wickets would change the game.
“We took two wickets in the first two overs after tea that really brought us into the game. I think each one of us had the belief we could win, even when there were just two runs needed. We knew if we could get the last batsman to the crease, we could stand a chance, and thankfully that’s what happened with Jason Wallace coming up trumps.
“Fair play to our lads for the effort and not laying down, especially with such a low total.”
Killyclooney are next in action tomorrow night at home in the T20 Cup, before entertaining Bready in the Premiership on Saturday.
