It was the Heinrich Roberts show at Bridge Park with the South African making a half century and taking five wickets in an emphatic win for Bonds Glen against Ballyspallen. Roberts top-scored with 85 from 80 balls (6 fours, 3 sixes) sharing stands of 74 with Simon Killen (34) and 82 with Sam Haslett (37). David Cooke chipped in with 41 not out (3 fours, 2 sixes) in a Bee Gees total of 242 for 5. The home chase never got going as they were bundled out for just 71 with Roberts talking 5 for 16, plus two apiece for Sam Haslett and Kyle Moore.
St Johnston lost to Burndennett by 5 runs
Burndennett 180/8 (40 overs; Niall McDonnell 54, Mark Pollock 33, Galvin Pollock 24, Marty Mehaffey 22; Graeme McCarter 3-29, David Barnard 2-26, Michael Rankin 2-35)
St Johnston 175/8 (40 overs; Jack Macbeth 51, David Anthony 39, Matthew Orr 25*; Ross McCay 3-25, Stephen McCay 2-28)
St Johnston's loss to Burndennett meant Strabane were crowned champions despite the Tyrone side being away in Cork. The Saints now face in all likelihood a decider against Glendermott for the right to play Ardmore or Coleraine in the end of season promotion/relegation play-off game. Batting first Mark Pollock (33) and Marty Mehaffey (22) added 55 for the second wicket, while Coach Niall McDonnell made a fluent 54 (3 fours, 2 sixes) as he and Galvin Pollock (24) put on 84 for the fifth wicket. A final total of 180 for 8 was certainly no gimme for the hosts, and even more so as Ross McCay took three wickets in four balls to rip through the top order with the prize scalps of David Lapsley, Subhan Shirzad and Graeme McCarter. Jack Macbeth (51) shared half century stands with Michael Rankin (17) and David Anthony (39), but the required rate was just too much despite a late surge by the skipper and Matthew Orr (25*).
