.The first match between the women's sides of India and the Netherlands in over quarter of a century took place today at Headingley, with the Indians dominating the game in all aspects to win by 95 runs.

Dutch captain Babette de Leede won the toss and chose to bowl first, with Indian openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma starting their innings with a 115 run partnership, which ended when Verma was dismissed for 55.

Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues then added another 45 before Mandhana was finally out having scored 74 from 47 balls. The Dutch didn't always help themselves with some at times decidedly average fielding, and India eventually scored 209-5 from their 20 overs.

Shree Charani (4-19) and Shafail Verma (3-20) then led the way with the ball for India as they bowled the Dutch out for 114 to secure a 95 run win.

It won't get any easier for the Dutch in their next match as they come up against Australia in Southampton on Saturday.
