Donemana kept the pressure firmly on Premiership leaders Newbuildings and ensured the title race will go to the final weekend after winning their Tyrone derby against Fox Lodge in a rain-affected contest.

Fox Lodge had earlier posted a competitive 253 for six from their 50 overs, built around a magnificent unbeaten century from Brian Allen.

The opener carried his bat for 117 from 120 deliveries, striking nine fours and six sixes, after Fox Lodge had slipped to 47 for three.

Allen found valuable support from Gayan Maneeshan, who made 49 from 93 balls as the pair added a crucial 113 for the fourth wicket. Captain Jonny Robinson provided late impetus with an unbeaten 15.

Mark Averill was the pick of the Donemana attack with three for 55, while Andy McBrine claimed two for 34.

Rain was hovering in Donemana’s chase and they made a positive start through Jamie Huey and Luke Marillier.

Huey struck eight fours and a six in a rapid 47 from 37 balls, sharing an opening stand of 70 with Marillier, who made 32 from 34 deliveries with two fours and three sixes.

Robinson removed Huey and Raymond Curry, while Aaron Heywood accounted for Marillier, but Azim Kazi and McBrine calmly accumulated, knowing they were ahead on DLS as the rain intensified. Kazi finished unbeaten on 22 and McBrine 10 not out as Donemana were 17 ahead at 122 for three after 22 overs when play was called off.

The result means Newbuildings cannot celebrate yet. Donemana have done all they can to maintain the pressure, taking the Premiership title battle into the final weekend of the season.
