Bready secured their North West Premiership status with a crucial victory over Coleraine, a result which leaves the Bannsiders facing the prospect of a relegation play-off against Glendermott.

Coleraine struggled to build any real momentum with the bat and were dismissed for 132 after Bready’s attack kept a firm grip on proceedings throughout.

Captain David Cooke top-scored with 28, while Patrick Carson made 24 and Matthew Hutchinson 21, but nobody was able to convert a start into the substantial innings required.

David Scanlon was the chief destroyer, claiming four for 36, while Cameron McClay and Kenzie Hall took two wickets apiece as Coleraine were bowled out with almost 12 overs unused.

Bready’s reply was anything but straightforward. They quickly slipped to four for two after losing Kyle Magee and Suyesh Kumar, before Hall and David Rankin steadied the innings.

Rankin made a patient 20, while Hall produced the decisive contribution with a battling 50 from 81 balls, striking four boundaries.

Coleraine continued to fight, Scott Campbell returning excellent figures of three for 11 and Varun Chopra taking two wickets as Bready lost wickets regularly.

However, Charlie Downey held his nerve with an unbeaten 16, along with Nathan McCombe as Bready did enough to secure the vital victory.

For Bready, the result removes the threat of the relegation play-off and guarantees another season in the Premiership. Coleraine, meanwhile, now look destined to face Championship challengers Glendermott in a potentially season-defining play-off for top-flight status.
