Young Players to watch Charlie Simpson and Craig Doherty.
Aaron Heywood is in charge once again at Ballymagorry, and he will be hoping that the incoming campaign is more reminiscent of the highs of the 2022 and their cup win, rather than the relegation blow of last year.
“Unfortunately, Ali Doherty has picked up a serious knee Injury during the off season whilst playing football and he is set for a lengthy lay off which will see him miss the entire season,” said Heywood. “Ali will be a big miss for us, we had hoped this would be a big year for his development. We would like to wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back out there again.
“We have Gayan Maneeshan coming back this year as our overseas professional and are really excited about that. Hopefully he can kick on from last year, as he now has an idea of North West Cricket and knows what he needs to do moving forward.
“Hopefully, the lads can buy into Gayan's coaching and training methods this year, who has Brian Allen stepping in to add to that as well. I'm interested to see who sticks their hands up and really kicks on with their development this season. We have a relatively youthful side, but the same lads have a lot of experience now in senior cricket so it's about taking that next step and becoming more consistent.
“Craig Doherty has the quality to showcase his skills this season and if he gets his head down it could prove to be a big year for him also.
“Charlie Simpson has been a great addition for us and settled in well. He gives us a further blend of youth and a new addition to the changing room. The opportunities are there and I'm really looking forward to seeing how he goes.”
