Simon Harrison led Waringstown to a tense last over three-wickets win against Lisburn in the Junior Cup final at Bangor. Chasing 178, former Irish international James Hall's 49 (3 fours, 1 six) plus 20s from Ross Waite and Lee Nelson looked to have The Lawn side in control at 115 for 2. However, four wickets for Richard Simpson (4-31) saw five wickets fall for 30 runs, and at 145 for 7 the momentum had switched back to Lisburn. Harrison though proved up the task making an unbeaten 45 (6 fours, 1 six), finishing the game in style as he showed no nerves striking a superb straight six to tie the game, then winning it with a pulled four. That clinched the Man-of-the-Match award for Harrison in what has been a difficult year for the famous family with three deaths, including Simon's father Barry in April. Earlier he had also taken two wickets as did Hall - one of three Irish internationals in the match along with Phil Eaglestone and Boyd Rankin as Lisburn made 177 for 7. David (48) and Richard Simpson (28) in the runs as well as Adam Berry (38). Two cup final defeats in two days for Lisburn, but no-one will begrudge Waringstown's triumph in what was an entertaining decider at a wonderfully immaculate Upritchard Park.
