Canada have gone through their first tri-series in CWC League 2 unbeaten after recording a five wicket win over Scotland today in Dubai.
Canadian captain Saad Bin Zafar won the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and chose to bowl first. A few Scottish batters were able to get starts but none went on to make a big score, with George Munsey's 36 their top score.
Collapsing at one point from 140-3 to 155-8, that Scotland approached 200 owed much to a knock of 24 by number 10 Brad Wheal. Harsh Thaker was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3-41, bowling the Scots out for 197.
Canada found themselves on 34-4 early in their reply, but Harsh Thaker and Nicholas Kirton added 109 for the fifth wicket to get the chase back on track. The partnership ended when Safyaan Sharif had Kirton out lbw.
That was it as far as wickets went though, as Thaker guided the team home to a five wicket win with an unbeaten century, his second in a row in this tri-series.
This leg of CWC League 2 concludes on Saturday when Scotland take on hosts UAE at the same venue.
