Qatar and Bahrain won on day five of the group stage of the ongoing ACC Premier Cup as the qualification race for the Men's T20 Asia Cup heats up in Oman,
Saudi Arabia won the toss and chose to put Qatar in during the morning's Group A match. Knocks of 48 by Muhammad Tanveer and 38 by Shahzaib Jamil helped them post 153-9 from their 20 overs. Saudi Arabia lost their first four wickets for just 18 runs and, despite 57 by Waji Ul Hassan, were unable to recover and were kept to 138-8, losing by 15 runs.
In the afternoon Group B match, Cambodia won the toss and chose to bat first against Bahrain, and it proved to be a poor choice as they were bowled out for 83. Ali Dawood and Haider Butt both took three wickets. Butt then was the top scorer in the Bahrain reply, scoring an unbeaten 39 as they secured a seven wicket win in 13.1 overs.
The win for Bahrain meant that both teams were eliminated from contention for the semi-finals, whilst every other team still has - in theory at least - a chance of reaching thst stage. Nepal are the only team to have secure their place in the last four.
All will be decided tomorrow with the last four group stage games. In Group A in the morning, Hong Kong play Malaysia whilst Nepal take on Saudi Arabia. In Group B in the afternoon, hosts Oman face off against Kuwait and Cambodia look for their first win when they come up against the UAE.
