The 2030 Women's T20 World Cup has been expanded to a 16 team event, the ICC announced today after their board meeting.

It had already been confirmed that the tournament will expand to twelve teams in 2026, and the 2030 event was also set to be a twelve team event prior to today's announcement.

The ICC said in a satement that this was part of their "long-term strategic commitment to equity across the men’s and women’s game". Quite how not committing to having World Cups of equal size by the end of the decade does that remains a question.

Details of how qualification will work obviously remain unknown at this stage.
