It is with enormous sadness that I advise of the sudden passing of Derek Brennan, former President of CYM/Terenure CC.

Derek's contribution to cricket in Leinster and Ireland was immense in particular as a volunteer administrator.

Amongst his many contributions, Derek served in all officer posts at his club, was instrumental in guiding the then CYM to senior club status and also served a term as Chair of the Irish Cricket Union (now Cricket Ireland).

Derek has been synonymous with the establishment and growth of the cricket-based charity, Lords Taverners Ireland (LTI) and in that capacity, he led the volunteer team at LTI in raising significant sums of money for the benefit of young people with special needs. In particular, Derek led the LTI Events Committee which delivered the hugely successful annual LTI Christmas Fundraising Lunch which is now a marquee event in the calendar of the club cricket community.

A straight-talker, a great thinker, a man of the highest integrity, a cricket man but most of all, a great family man and a loyal friend.

Our deepest sympathies to his beloved wife, Therese, his son Ken (whose cricket career he followed with great pride and enjoyment), his daughter Lorraine, Ken's wife Barbara and Derek's grandsons Samuel & Jake, thinking of all the Brennan family at this difficult time and all Derek's many friends across the club cricket community across the island.

May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
