For most of today's CWC League 2 game between home team Netherlands and USA, the visitors were on top. But a remarkable collapse cost the Americans and secured a 19 run win for the Dutch.

USA captain Monank Patel won the toss and asked the home team to bat first at Voorburg. They lost Michael Levitt early before a 103 run partnership between Max O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh provided what could have been a platform for a big score for the Netherlands.

That partnership ended when O'Dowd was bowled for 49 by Steven Taylor, with Vikramjit Singh run out for 59 six overs later. This brought Scott Edwards to the crease and, as he does so often, he played a key role in the Dutch middle order, scoring 65 from 55 balls to help the Dutch post 237-7, though they will have been disappointed given the start O'Dowd and SIngh provided.

Despite Steven Taylor and Monank Patel both being dismissed without scoring by Vivian Kingma in the first over, USA initially looked to be cruising toward their target. Smit Patel scored 38, Aaron Jones contributed 47 whilst Milind Kumar - in just his second ODI - top scored with 69.

But Kumar's dismissal sparked a quite sensational collapse. From 210-5 with six overs to score just 28 runs, the visitors suddenly found runs hard to come by at the death. Three wickets fell for three runs before Kingma took two more in the final over. USA had lost their last five wickets for just eight runs and lost by 19 runs.

The USA have plenty of time to regroup before their next game, which will be against Canada on Monday. The hosts for this leg of CWC League 2 are in action again on Saturday against the Canadians when the tri-series moves to Rotterdam for the final three games.
