It was all (green) and yellow at Park Avenue on Saturday as Coldplay front man Chris Martin popped in to see the action between Railway Union and Cork County in the Leinster Championship clash.

Martin stayed at the ground for a few hours chatting to spectators enjoying the game and the late summer sunshine as Railway beat Cork by 98 runs as former Irish international Kevin O'Brien scored a half century.

The singer was there with his manager, with whom he used to play Under 13 cricket in England.

Railway Union are the club of Rock n' Roll royalty with members of both Def Leppard and Spandau Ballet playing at the club in the 1980's.

Other famous musicians with a connection to Irish cricket include Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol who played at North Down, while Gerry Cott of the Boomtown Rats son Sonny played for Ireland Under 19's.

Coldplay have sold well over 100 million albums worldwide, have won seven Grammys and nine Brits, and among their best known hits are Yellow, Paradise, Vida La Vida, Clocks, Scientist and Fix You.

They were in Dublin this past week as part of their World Tour playing four sold-out shows.
