Hong Kong have retained the Women's East Asia Cup title after a convincing win over Japan in today's final in Incheon, South Korea.
The five team tournament began on Tuesday and Hong Kong went through the round-robin stage unbeaten. Japan were second having only lost to Hong Kong. Last year's runners-up and two time champions China were third, hosts South Korea were fourth and debutants Mongolia were last, losing all their games in convincing fashion.
This set up this afternoon's final between Hong Kong and Japan, with the latter batting first after captain Mai Yanagida won the toss. Some tight bowling from Hong Kong kept them to 108-6 from their 20 overs, with Haruna Iwasaki's 22 their top score.
Hong Kong didn't lose a wicket in their run chase with skipper Natasha Miles and Mariko Hill chasing it down in 16.4 overs for the ten wicket win. Hill top scored with 48 whilst Miles made 40.
