Ireland Under 19 Women endured a tough series last week, beaten in all five games by their South African counterparts,

The batting struggled to adapt to the conditions, with Amy Hunter's unbeaten half century in the penultimate match the only individual score above 25. They didn't hit a six in any of the games, and only Hunter's strike rate managed to get above a run a ball, albeit on predominantly slow and spin friendly tracks.

The bowlers almost took them to what would have been a morale boosting consolation win in the final match, but they couldn't get the last wicket, which added 17 to seal the clean sweep.

Aimee Maguire was the stand-out performer with the ball, taking four wickets twice.

A tough series but one that will stand them in good stead providing a benchmark ahead of the 2025 Under 19 World Cup in Malaysia next January.
