Harry Dyer claimed 4-35 to give Pakistan a major scare at the U19 World Cup before Ireland succumbed to a three-wicket defeat in the Super Sixes at Potchefstroom.

Clontarf all-rounder John McNally made 53, and Dyer 31, in a disappointing Ireland total of 181 all out, but when the spinner struck for the third time the unbeaten Group D winners were in trouble on 96-5.

A defining sixth-wicket partnership of 63 was broken by Jordan Neill and Dyer stuck for a fourth time but too late to prevent Pakistan staggering over the winning line with 6.2 overs to spare.
