NCU Challenge Cup
Round 3: Carrickfergus lost to Waringstown by 9 wickets (DLS).
Middle Road, 22 June.

It was a similar story at Middle Road where, batting first, Carrick would have been pleased to have reached 101 for one against Waringstown, with Atish Varape (54) and Iain Parkhill (34) sharing a century stand. The wheels came off in spectacular fashion, though, as they lost nine wickets for just 44 runs to be all out for 145. Waringstown captain Greg Thompson (four for 24) was the destroyer-in-chief, while there were two wickets apiece for Adam Dennison and James Mitchell. The game was all but over in the powerplay of the chase as Sam Topping and Dennison took the home side attack apart in an opening stand of 128. Topping bludgeoned eight fours and five sixes in a whirlwind 72 from only 29 deliveries, while Dennison’s undefeated 61 saw him hit eight fours and two sixes as the nine-wicket win was sealed in the 15th over.
NCU Challenge Cup
Round 3: Instonians beat North Down by 10 wickets (DLS).
Shaw's Bridge, 22 June.

Cade Carmichael made it back-to-back hundreds as he and Nikolai Smith made sure Instonians made short work of what looked like a challenging target of 212 in 38 against North Down. Carmichael has enjoyed a prolific 2025 campaign with his form bringing him Irish international recognition, and he was soon into his stride at Shaw’s Bridge, hitting 15 fours and three sixes in a rapid 87-ball unbeaten 124. His stand with Smith was 215 in just 29 overs, with the skipper no slouch himself in an even-time 85 not out (nine fours). Mickey Copeland (88) and Tyron Koen (66) both made half-centuries for the Comber side, but their bowling unit had no answer to the blitzkrieg of boundaries that the Inst openers unleashed.
NCU Challenge Cup
Round 3: Lisburn beat Donacloney Mill by 9 wickets (DLS).
Wallace Park, 22 June.

Judd Markham hit seven fours and two sixes in a 51-ball 58 but received little support from the rest of the Donacloney Mill batters as they were bowled out for 126. The Lisburn bowling quintet of Neil Whitworth, Adam Kennedy, Ryan Macbeth, Josh Manley and Matthew Humphreys all took two wickets apiece. Ross Adair (12) went cheaply, but that was to be the sole success for the visitors as, conscious of the showery weather, Humphreys was promoted up the order. The move paid off as the Irish international added 88 in eight overs with overseas professional Faiz Fazal. He top-scored with an unbeaten 53, while Player of the Match Humphreys made 44 not out, both hitting six fours and three maximums as the nine-wicket win was sealed in just the 11th over.
NCU Challenge Cup
Round 3: Woodvale beat Cliftonville Academy by 7 wickets (DLS)
Ballygomartin Road, 22 June.

If the first three ties were one-sided affairs, then the fourth certainly made amends as Woodvale beat Cliftonville Academy in a last-ball thriller. Varun Chopra’s unbeaten 104 and 56 from Hayden Melly took CA to 253 for eight, with three wickets for Ludwig Kaestner. A shower meant an adjusted target of 242 in 43 overs, and the chase always seemed to be lagging a little behind as the required rate climbed. Harry Warke (45) and Stephen Bunting (28) got starts, but when the visitors lost Ruhan Pretorius for just five, the odds were heavily stacked against the Ballygomartin Road side. However, Kaestner proved the man for the big occasion as he and Finn Restieaux (37 not out) set about chasing down the score. With eight needed from the last three balls, Restieaux slashed a boundary, followed by a single to leave Kaestner needing three from the final ball. His powerful cut raced to the boundary amidst great scenes. He finished unbeaten on 112 (nine fours, six sixes), making the Man of the Match award a formality. The Semi-Final draw will be made on Tuesday during the T20 inter-pro series at Stormont.

Stormont, 22 June.

Wicketkeeper-batter Rebecca Nield top-scored with 42 (4 fours) in a North Down total of 114 for six in a 19-overs game. Holly Faulkner (2-11) the pick of the home side attack. Eva Wilson hit four boundaries in a run-a-ball 30 looking destined to lead the Stormont side to victory as they reached 61 for one in the 8th over. However, the wheels came off as they slumped to 96 all out - two wickets apiece for Gracie and Evey Keenan sealing the 18-run win.
NCU Premier League
North Down beat Templepatrick by 123 runs
Comber, 21 June.

North Down would have disappointed to finish on 267 for seven after Alistair Shields (104) and Mo Aahil (71) had put on 194 for the first wicket. But Michael Stewart dismissed both batters in the space of three balls and Templepatrick conceded just 73 runs in the last 12 overs. Although the visitors reached 118 for two in the reply, a horrible collapse – they lost their last eight wickets for 26 runs - handed North Down a comfortable 123 runs victory. Mickey Copeland and Shields each took three wickets.
NCU Premier League
Woodvale lost to Muckamore by 124 runs
Ballygomartin Road, 21 June.

Muckamore hit the highest total of the day, 325 for four, with Mark Gleghorne finishing 127 not out, including 13 fours and 5 sixes. He added 119 with Neil Brand (65) for the second wicket, 84 for the fourth wicket with Sam Gordon and 76 unbeaten for the fifth with Luke Allen (43 not out). Curtis Moorhead was the destroyer in chief for the visitors as Woodvale collapsed from 111 for three to 144 for eight, taking four of the wickets for 16 runs. He claimed the match-ball by having Ashwin Shetty stumped for 38 after a stand of 57 for the ninth wicket with James Martin.
NCU Premier League
CSNI lost to Cliftonville Academy by 141 runs
Stormont, 21 June.

Cliftonville Academy won their first league match of the season with an impressive 141 runs success at Stormont. Francis Collins led the way with 104 and 50s from Abhishek Raut and Jared Wilson, not out, took them to 301 for six. Civil Service North reached 133 for three in reply but Sean Davey and Adam Leckey, top scorer with 58, were dismissed within five balls of each other and nine overs later they were all for 160. Varun Chopra ended up as the winners’ most successful bowler with three for 13.
NCU Premier League
Instonians beat CIYMS by 150 runs
Shaw's Bridge, 21 June.

Instonians top the Premier League table on run-rate after crushing CIYMS by 150 runs at Shaw’s Bridge. Ireland international Cade Carmichael scored 134, with 14 fours and two sixes, and shared stands of 121 with Rob McKinley (44) and 134 with captain Nikolai Smith (87) as Instonians finished on 315 for seven. Shane Dadswell took two early wickets to put the visitors immediately on the back foot at 49 for five. A partnership of 35 for the last wicket between Beau Dennison and Ben Snell only delayed the inevitable.
NCU Premier League
Lisburn lost to Waringstown by 45 runs
Wallace Park, 21 June.

Waringstown, fielding their first choice XI for the first time this season, made it a three-way tie at the top in the Premier League by inflicting Lisburn’s first defeat of the season. Waringstown finished just seven runs short of 300, yet were bowled out in the 46th over. Tom Mayes, not for the first time this season, top scored with 66 while Matthew Halliday hit an impressive 50 before being dismissed next ball. Josh Manley and Adam Kennedy, at twice the expense, each took three wickets. Lisburn never threatened the total although a last wicket stand of 48 between Kennedy (30 not out) and Callum Atkinson (24) reduced the margin of defeat to 45 runs. Waringstown captain Greg Thompson finished with three wickets including the big one of Faiz Fazal for 58.
