Bready
- Captain: Ian Young
- Overseas professional: Parth Palawat
- Players in: as above
- Players out: Irosh Samarasooriya (pro)
There’s a new captain at Bready with Davy Scanlon have stepped down from the role after 12 years at the helm. Ian Young has taken over the reins from ‘Sca’ and he will be assisted by Ryan Clarke and Gavin Roulston as vice-captains.
They welcome back Pearce Ryan who featured in a few matches last year, and who has spent the winter in Australia.
There’s a new pro with Parth Palawat replacing Irosh who was at Magheramason for six successful years.
“Parth is very big on the coaching front which fits in very well with our ethos here,” said Scanlon. “We are great believers in giving youth a chance and we have a very good crop of 15–17-year-olds here at the minute. We are hoping they take advantage of the opportunities that we will give them and shine, and that would be a massive plus for us.
“It’s going to be an interesting season. There is strength in depth in the league this year which is brilliant to see. Pre-covid there were only two-three major challengers, whereas now you could throw a net over seven/eight clubs. It’s going to be fiercely competitive at both ends of the table and a mystery who will win it or be relegated. There have been quite a few personnel changes at other clubs.
“I’m really looking forward to the new season as without the responsibility of captaincy I can relax and really enjoy my cricket even more. I know Ian is really relishing the challenge of leading Bready into this new era and continue the successes we have enjoyed over the past few seasons. “
