On their day St Johnston proved themselves more than a match for anyone last season, but inconsistency cost them a chance of a Premiership slot.

David Anthony is captain once again and he will have to without the services of two stalwarts of recent seasons.

Jacob Maroske has gone back to his native Australia, while opening bowler Nathan Cole's work has taken him to Greece.

The Donegal club do hope to be bringing in one new face with a young talented Afghan - who is based in Letterkenny - they are waiting confirmation of his registration this week.

"The loss of both Nathan and Jacob is significant, given that they have been mainstays for a number of years," said skipper David Anthony.

"We do have a good crop of youngsters, with my two to keep an eye on are rian McAuley and Sam Macbeth. All the squad are a year older and wiser and that allied with the experience of the older heads means I feel we have a good chance going into the new season.

"Hopefully we have learned from the mistakes we made last season, and we will continue to move forward in the right direction and collect some silverware this year."
