The North West Warriors collected their first points of the season after they beat the Northern Knights in a last over thriller at Stormont yesterday evening.

James McCollum's 61 and a quickfire 38 from Ruhan Pretorius saw the Knights post 149 for 5 in their 20 overs.

A slow start by the Warriors meant they were 44 for 2 at the halfway stage, but they accelerated with Scott Macbeth and Kian Hilton both hitting two sixes in entertaining cameos.

It was Brigade's Cameron Melly who was to prove the matchwinner, getting the 14 needed from the final over, to finish unbeaten on 37 from just 16 balls - the Warriors clinching victory from the penultimate delivery.

The sides meet again this morning in the 50 overs cup. Action at Stormont gets underway at 10:45am.
