Jersey and Denmark prepared for upcoming European sub-regional qualifiers with a T20I series in Brondby this past weekend.

After the first game on Saturday was washed out, both games yesterday took place as scheduled. Jersey captain Chuggy Perchard won the toss in the first of those games and asked Dernmark to bat first. Daniel Birrell bowled a wicket-maiden to start the Danish innings and the home side were soon on the backfoot on 16-4 in the fifth over, three of those wickets taken by Birrell.

A 47 run partnership for the fifth wicket between Abdul Hashmi and Surya Anand got them back into the game before Hashmi was bowled for 29. Anand scored 35 before he was run out and Denmark were bowled out for 119.

A 97 run partnership for the second wicket between Asa Tribe and Jonty Jenner provided the bulk of the Jersey reply, with the partnership ending when Tribe was dismissed for 58. Jenner followed two balls later for 42 and the team secured a six wicket win with 6.2 overs to spare.

Tribe was in the runs again in the final game with Jersey batting first this time after Denmark won the toss. He top scored with 51 from 27 balls, before Ben Ward and Julius Sumeraurer added fifty for the seventh wicket to help Jersey make 198-7 from their 20 overs. Denmark used nine bowlers, with Eshan Karimi the pick of the bunch with 4-21.

Scott Simpson took 4-18 and Ben Ward took 3-14 as Jersey bowled Denmark out for 102 to win by 96 runs and secure a 2-0 series win.

Jersey will next be in action next month for the second of three sub-regional qualifiers for the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup. That tournament will take place in Germany. Denmark play in the third sub-regional event in August in Guernsey. Both teams will look to join Scotland, Netherlands and Italy in next year's regional final.
