MAGNIFICENT SEVEN FOR WALKER

The Championship’s leading wicket taker is Fox Lodge paceman Adam Walker, who took his season tally to 26 with a seven-wicket haul in their win at The Nedd, a result that keeps the Ballymagorry side on the fringes of the promotion race.

“It feels really good to be the leading wicket-taker in the league which has some top bowlers,” said Walker. “I had my best figures on Saturday as well which felt great, as I have been putting in the work at training. I feel that I have just matured as a bowler for Fox Lodge,” added the 24-year-old.

“We are going well in the league with just one defeat and two wash-outs that didn’t help but we hope to be up fighting for the league title and we have a semi-final on Friday against the Saints. They are a good team and it definitely will be a challenge but I hope we get the win.”

Fox Lodge skipper Aaron Heywood was full of praise for Walker’s efforts with the new ball.  “Adam deserves his plaudits for his efforts this year, he's stepping up when asked. He is still learning his trade and improving constantly. A big plus for him this year has been his availability.

“Due to work commitments, he has missed a few games during recent seasons. But this year he has powered through, coming off long night shifts to help the team. Walker is one of the most committed members of our team and Foxies through and through. A good mate of mine - we have shared some brilliant memories on the pitch together, long may that and his good form continue.”
