The game of the week was at Beechgrove where the NCU produced a thrilling fightback to beat Leinster by just two runs. Batting first the NCU posted 115 for 1, with skipper Grace Wilson (45*) and Grace Wilson (38*) sharing a second wicket stand of 84. The Dubliners looked likely winners as Sarah Prendergast hit 10 fours in her 66 from 59 balls as they reached 97 for 3. However in an amazing turnaround Olivia Morrow (3-12), Lucy Andrews (3-29) and Alexis McDonald sparked a collapse which saw seven wickets fall for 16 runs - the last four all on 113. A match that will be long remembered by the NCU and a lesson for all to never give up.

There was another thriller between the NW and Leinster 2's which went down to the penultimate ball of the contest. The hosts posted what looked like a very modest 92 for 7 - Juliet Gargan taking 3 for 19. An opening stand of 63 between Arisha Foysal (26) and Sinead Thomson (25) had Leinster in control before a strong fightback inspired by Rhianna Young (2-12) meant 8 were needed from the last over. Cliodhna Jacobs was the heroine, getting her side over the line to spark major celebrations from the camp.

North West lost to NCU by 24 runs

The NCU ran out 24-run winners against the NW in a closely contested match at Beechgrove. The visitors posted 95 for 7 in their 20 overs, with Anna Monaghan making an unbeaten 26 and Lucy Andrews 20. Emily Young made 20 in the reply, but two wickets apiece for Isabella Wray and Lucy Andrews restricted them to 71.

Sarah Prendergast continued her good form this week with a top-score of 69 from 54 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes) as she and Molly Butterly (26*) added 114. The reply saw opener Arisha Foysal hit 7 fours and a six in her 54 not out which helped her team to 84 for 2 - 37 short of their 122 target.
