Seaham Park to host International Cricket Series

Guernsey’s youth wins in 2023 mean they will be swapping the ICC qualifiers in Denmark, for a trip to play in ‘The North East Cricket Series’ with the third match at Seaham Park CC in August.

Guernsey, who impressively won the Cornerstone Academy series against Cricket Ireland, Hampshire, and Somerset in April, faces a multi-format North East Cricket series, with training, matches, and team bonding opportunities as the tour squad prepares for 2025, and the opportunity to become the first islander cricketers to qualify for an ICC World Cup.

Seaham Park, the current North East Premier League Division 1 leaders, will host the third match of six on Monday 5th August, starting at 1045 showcasing the Seaham community to a global audience.

Phil Roberts, Seaham Park Chairman, was delighted to be hosting noting “Seaham Park CC is a proud supporter of NUSC work, and it is our pleasure to be part of North East Cricket Series goal to showcase the very best the North East has to offer world cricketers”.

Ben Ferbrache, Guernsey Pathway Lead was pleased the game at Seaham Park was confirmed: “We have appreciated the passion from Seaham Park CC over many months to host us.  I look forward to meeting with Seaham Park coaches to discuss our projects, and to learn from their very successful ones which are helping the team chase promotion to the ECB Premier League in 2025”.

Mr Roberts added “I am asking for our local communities help to get behind the series.  This is a chance to showcase the very best Seaham has to offer international sport and to give the NUSC some support.  The stark reality is this is local amateur kids, run by volunteers, vs internationals who have already beaten Ireland, Hampshire, and Somerset.  I know with your support to make the Park their home, the NUSC boys can defy the odds, and give Guernsey a run for their money”.

The North East Cricket Series’ will be releasing more series details in the coming weeks.
