Freddie Ogilby starred with the bat as Ireland U17s completed a 2-0 series win over Jersey U19's at Oak Hill.

Ogilby, who plays in England, is the son of former Irish keeper Stephen, and was part of an invited Ireland youth side that competed in the youth interpros last month.

Freddie Ogilby scored 64

Batting first Jersey made a strong start reaching 121 for 2 with quickfire runs for Jack Kemp - who hit 8 fours in a 41-ball  46- and Charlie Brennan (34).

However, the Irish spinners fought back to dismiss them for 181 - two wickets apiece for Sam Kincaid, Febin Manoj, Seb Dijkstra and Adam Leckey.

The chase began badly with Brian Dunphy and Robert O'Brien dismissed cheaply, but a third wicket stand of 82 between Ogilby, who top-scored with 64 (12 fours) and Ethan Marshall (49) got the innings back on track.

Barney Aston's three wickets saw a bit of a wobble, but Nigel Jones' side ensured the four-wicket win in the 36th over.

They now play the MCC on Friday before the Celtic Cup series starts next week in Larne.
