After a good start to their reply today, Canada collapsed and eventually lost by 63 runs in the fourth match of this CWC League 2 tri-series today in Rotterdam.
Canada won the toss and chose to bowl first at the VOC ground, quickly removing Michael Levitt for a duck in the first over. Max O'Dowd and Vikramjit Singh then got the home side back into the game with a 51 run partnership for the second wicket.
That pair both fell with the score on 51, with the next partnership of note coming for the fifth wicket between Scott Edwards and Noah Croes, who put on 59 together before Croes was out for 31. Scott Edwards went on to make the top score of the innings for the Dutch with 72 before he fell with the total one short of the 200 mark.
The eighth and ninth wickets added 21 between them to take the Dutch total to 220 before Kaleem Sana bowled the last two batters in consecutive deliveries to finish with figures of 4-30.
The Canadians started their run chase brightly with Aaron Johnson and Dilpreet Bajwa scoring 59 in the first eight overs. But an inspired display of fast bowling from Vivian Kingma and Paul van Meekeren saw the visitors collapse from that position to 70-6, with the two pace bowlers each taking three wickets.
Paul van Meekeren took 5-28
The highlight of the collapse was the catch took by Noah Croes to remove Pargat Singh. Fielding at second slip he dived to his right to take a spectacular one handed catch at full stretch and ranks up there with the very finiest of slip catches.
Shreyas Movva attempted to keep his team in the game with an unbeaten 47, but nobody was able to stay with him. Van Meekeren came back on to take the final two wickets to finish with 5-28, his maiden ODI five wicket haul.
Canada play next on Monday against USA at the same ground before this tri-series concludes with a match between the Netherlands and USA on Wednesday.
