Canada's second tri-series in this edition of CWC League 2 has been a sharp contrast to the previous one in the UAE. Whilst in that one they went unbeaten against UAE and Scotland, this time they have lost every game against rivals USA and hosts Netherlands.
The latest defeat came today against old rivals USA. After winning the toss and asking their opponents to bat first, the Canadians saw Steven Taylor and Smit Patel bat for the first 26 overs of the USA innings, putting on 125 before Taylor was out lbw for 70 to Saad Bin Zafar.

Patel was out two overs later for 46, with contributions also coming from Aaron Jones (50) and Milind Kumar (47) as the USA scored 275-8 from their 50 overs. Saad Bin Zafar was the pick of the Canadian bowlers with 3-30.
In reply, Canada quickly found themselves firmly on the back foot at 44-4, before a 108 run partnership between Pargat Singh and Shreyas Movva briefly threatened to get Canada back in the game. The partnership ended when Singh was dismissed for 72.
This brought debutant Kanwarpal Tathgur to the middle, but it was an unfortunate debut as he lasted just one ball before having to be removed from play with a suspected concussion. His replacement Aaditya Varadarajan added another 51 with Movva before Movva fell for 68.
That ended any hopes of Canada snatching victory from the jaws of defeat and they were bowled out for 225, losing by 50 runs. Shadley van Schalkwyk was the pick of the USA bowlers with 4-20.
This tri-series will conclude on Wednesday with USA taking on hosts Netherlands, before the three teams play a T20I tri-series starting on Friday.
