USA have started one of two CWC League 2 tri-series that began today with a win over hosts Namibia in Windhoek today.
Monank Patel won the toss and asked the home side to bat first at the United Cricket Club Ground. Both openers fell cheaply before Jan Frylinck and Gerhard Erasmus added 75 for the third wicket before Namibian skipper Erasmus was bowled for 27 by Milind Kumar.
Kumar had Malan Kruger out lbw later in the same over and Namibia were 98-4 at the halfway stage. Frylinck took his score to 70 before he was bowled by Jasdeep Singh, whilst the next highest score would come from JJ Smit who contributed 49 before being bowled by Saurabh Netravalkar, who was returning to the US side after missing the tour of the Netherlands through paternity leave.
The final total for the home side was 199-9, which proved to be short of a competitive total.
Smit Patel was dismissed for nine runs at the end of the eighth over as USA started their chase slowly. Sushant Modani scored 36 before he was the second man out before the third wicket pairing of Monank Patel and Saiteja Mukkamalla added 106.

That partnership ended when Patel was bowled by Gerhard Erasmus for 72. Milind Kumar was out lbw from the next ball, but that was it as far as wickets went as Mukkamalla and Shayan Jahangir secured the six wicket win with 8.3 overs, Mukkamalla finishing unbeaten on 59.
USA are back in action on Wednesday against the other team in this tri-series UAE. Namibia next play on Friday, also against the UAE.
