A fine all-round display by hosts Canada saw them beat Nepal by 103-runs at King City.
Batting first, Canada looked in a spot of bother at 133 for 5 after 37 overs despite 48 from Navneet Dhaliwal.
The innings was transformed though by a hard-hit unbeaten 73 in just 44 balls from skipper Nicholas Kirton that saw him clear the ropes six times as well as hitting three boundaries.
120 came in the last 13 overs with Dilon Heyliger also making a rapid 30 in a final total of 253 for 8 - two wickets apiece for Sompal Kami and Lalit Rajbanshi.
Nepal's chase never got going with Heyliger the destroyer-in-chief taking 5 for 31 as the visitors slumped to 80 for 7.
There was no way back from that, although runs down the order from Sandeep Lamichhane (22) and number 10 Karan KC - who top-scored with 27 - ensured semi-respectability with a final total of 150.
Nepal are back in action on Wednesday when they face Oman at the same venue.
