Another day, another thriller in CWC League 2, though this time it was in the Namibian capital Windhoek as UAE snuck past the home side by one wicket with three balls to spare in a high scoring contest.
UAE captain Muhammad Waseem won the toss and asked the home side to bat first, only to see Michael van Lingen and JP Kotze put on 142 for the opening wicket in just 15.5 overs.
The partnership ended when Kotze was out for 64 from 53 balls, bowled by Muhammad Jawadullah. Jan Frylinck retired hurt after scoring three, whilst Gerhard Erasmus lasted 13 balls and scored nine. Malan Kruger lasted just two balls, with he and Erasmus making up two of the three wickets taken by Ali Naseer.
Van Lingen brought up his century from 70 balls but only added seven in his next 15 before he was finally out for 107. This brought Frylinck back out, but he only added five more runs to his score.

Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, a recent return to the Namibia side after six months away for as yet undisclosed disciplinary reasons, added 51 for the eighth wicket with Bernard Scholtz before the latter was out for 24. Loftie-Eaton was the tenth wicket of the innings, run out from the last ball after scoring 54 from 63 balls in Namibia's final total of 313.
The UAE reply started with a partnership of 42 between Aryansh Sharma and Muhammad Waseem and one of 40 for the second wicket between Sharma and Alishan Sharafu. From 82 at the fall of the second wicket, the Namibian bowlers pegged them back to 114-5.
A partnership of 154 between Vishnu Sukumaran and Basil Hameed swung the game back in favour of the visitors, with Hameed the next man out for 71 from 47 balls, the second of four wickets for Loftie-Eaton.
Sukumaran and Ali Naseer added 15 for the seventh wicket before the former was finally out having scored 97 from 90 balls. This left UAE needing 30 from the last four overs with three wickets in hand. Gerhard Erasmus bowled the 47th over and conceded just two, putting the visitors firmly on the backfoot.
Ali Naseer hit the first ball of the 48th over for six, with three singles from the next four balls being followed by Loftie-Eaton bowled Rahul Bhatia for one.
With 19 needed from two overs, Naseer again hit the first ball of an over for six, followed by a four from the third ball of the penultimate over and a single to bring Junaid Siddique on strike for his first ball. He promptly hit a return catch back to Junaid Siddique.
Number 11 Jawadullah kept out his first ball to ensure that Naseer was on strike to start the final over. The first ball was dispatched to the boundary for four and the third hit for six to secure a one wicket win with three balls to spare.
Namibia are back in action on Sunday when they take on USA, with UAE playing the same opponents in their next match on Tuesday.
