It's been quite the season for Northern Ireland born Jack Carson who has been named in the BBC Sport County Championship side of the year for 2024.

The former Waringstown and Irish youth international moved to Sussex following the completion of his O levels, making his County debut in 2020.

The off-spinning all-rounder's exploits have secured promotion for Sussex, with the title likely to be confirmed this weekend.

The 23-year-old has claimed 47 wickets including a best-bowling return of 6-67 against Derbyshire. He is no mug with the bat either making 97 in the same match - one of 11 half centuries in first-class cricket for the talented performer.

Having already represented England Lions, it seems inevitable that Carson's ambitions to play for at senior international level with England will be realized in the near future if his playing feats continue on their upward trajectory.
